Author of many books, practicing psychotherapist and Professor Emeritus at the California Institute of Integral Studies. Involved in consciousness research for over 40 years, including psychedelics, yoga, meditation, and shamanism, he is co-founder and president of the Green Earth Foundation http://www.greenearthfound.org/, a non-profit educational organization devoted to healing and harmonizing the relationship between humans and the Earth. Ralph will read from his newly published book, Birth of a Psychedelic Culture, which delves into the pioneering work he did with Ram Dass and Timothy Leary starting in 1960 at Harvard and talk about the where that work has taken him and show some selections of films he has been working on including "Entheogenisis" and "From Millbrook to Hollywood."

Inventor of the Biosphere 2 project, the visionary polymath will speak and discuss the relationships between the Earth's biosphere, technosphere and ethnosphere (cultures), and the need for the emergence of a noosphere (sphere of intelligence). In a multi-media presentation, John will describe the various ecological projects he started around the planet 40 years ago that continue to this day culminating with Biosphere 2. He will read from his new memoir, Me and the Biospheres, his poetry and other works, and show selected footage from films on his projects.

Author and humorist Steve Bhaerman has spent the past 22 years performing “cosmic comedy” as Swami Beyondananda. Swami’s wise and wacky wit has been called both “comedy disguised as wisdom” and “wisdom disguised as comedy.” On the serious side, Steve is the co-author with cellular biologist Dr. Bruce Lipton of Spontaneous Evolution: Our Positive Future and a Way to Get There From Here.

Tamarind is a unique vocalist whose music is a powerful combination of Indian melodies and poetic English lyrics.  She has collaborated with artists from a variety of genres including Loop Guru, Talvin Singh, Jack Irons, Alex Gibson, Gawain Mathews, and Facing East. Tamarind studied North Indian Classical singing under Maestro Ali Akbar Khan since 1993, and has performed in many of the Ali Akbar College of Music's concerts and festivals, and at other events in Ireland, England, Italy, Fiji and the US. She was recently nominated by Talvin Singh as a brilliant new artist with a wonderful cross over of Indian classical, folk and pop, and her music video, "Away" was played on Aljazeera TV. Tamarind recently released her album "Sounds Alone," and also has a CD of traditional Sanskrit chants. This performance will feature ancient Sanskrit prayers, invoking Divine Blessing and Love.

About This Event

The 2010 Ambiotica is produced by Michael Gosney and Joegh Bullock, with co-conspirators Anon Salon, Earthdance Network, Cyberset Music and Media and Synergetic Press.

Launched by Joegh Bullock and Michael Gosney in 2006, AMBIOTICA is an ongoing experiment in social flirtation and cultural stimulation: our post-modern version of the influential salons and private clubs of the past. Word of mouth and limited email invitations are attracting this creatively cultivated eclectic mix. Ambiotica is an integral evening, designed to serve our shared aspirations for a thriving culture, to focus and amplify the positive intentions and actions that our community embodies. Participation in this environment of conversation, performances, interactive art, exhibits and film – fueled by inventive musical grooves and exotic elixirs – calls for elegant, expressive dress and an intention beyond the obvious FUN we conspire together.

The seed for this edition of Ambiotica was planted on December 15, 2009 at at City Lights Books in San Francisco with the Birth of a Psychedelic Culture event
