Earthdance held the first MONTHLY Synchronized Global Meditation event, April 18, 2009 in San Francisico. The one hour live program on
Earthdance.TV began at 11:30 pm GMT on April 18 (3:30 p.m in California) with the synchronized meditation and Prayer for Peace at 12 midnight GMT/4 pm PDT.
David Nicol from the
Gaiafield Center for Subtle Activism and Michael Gosney from Earthdance Network hosted the program, with special guests Joseph Giove of
Common Passion and Gary Malkin of
Wisdom of the World. The program focused on "subtle activism" and related topics, and the work of organizations promoting synchronized meditations and prayer events. At a few minutes before the top of the hour, David guided us into a clear state of mind in preparation for Gary's personal Prayer for Peace. Participants contributed to the live chat during the program. After the meditation/prayer the speakers reflected on the experience and quoted from live chat participants. (Visitors used the
World Time Server to find the meditation time in their locations.)
This inaugural event set in motion a series of monthly events that will grow into not only online events involving thousands, but also multi-location gatherings around the world!
The next event will be Saturday May 16, hosted by Tribal Harmonix/Earthdance Vancouver, with a live show from the Dharma Lab in East Vancouver. The other 2009 event dates are June 27, July 18, August 15, September 26 (the annual event!), October 17, November 21 and December 19. Mark your calendar!
