Building a Culture of Peace

I have always felt that music has the power to heal the world.

After being involved in the seminal days of electronic music movement in the late 80s, I left my homeland of Australia to explore the musical frontiers of Europe and settled in London. There, I co-founded the electronic music club "Return the the Source" whose mission was to integrate the spiritual roots of music and dance into modern day electronic music culture. Return to the Source became a successful music club and toured the world including Japan, South America to South Africa.

Earthdance was the next level of my personal exploration into the community ritual of dance and music. In 1996, on a visionquest in Egypt, I had the vision of a global dance party where dance floors across the world would unite at the same time with the same music track. Thus, Earthdance was born!

I returned to London and contacted all my promoter friends across the world and the response was very enthusiastic. This was prior to the internet era, and it took a lot of phone calls and jammed fax machines (at 3 in the morning!) to get everybody on the same page. The first Earthdance was in 1997 - we had 22 event in 18 countries. Its amazing to know that we have now grown to over 300 events...

Thanks to everyone who has been involved!
